A Whole New World with Minnie

It is wonderful spending so much one-to-one time with Minnie now.  Although I do confess to missing Penny when she is at school, it is refreshing to have just one child to manage, even if it is the slightly crazy toddler.

No, wait ... not a toddler ... not anymore.

Being away from Penny more enables me to see more clearly how much Minnie has grown up.  She is strong, energetic and bright, counting to ten and practising her colours as we walk past cars on the walk to and from school.

It is lovely to get this time, especially as we didn't get it when she was first born (both from her being in hospital, and needing to focus on toddler Penny at the time).

So now a whole new world has opened up to us.  Looking forward to excursions into London and to all sorts of exciting places.

Getting on at school

Penny has settled in well to school, as we expected.

On the first few half days, she did suck her fingers a bit as she scoped out the classroom and tried to get her head around what was now expected of her.  It definitely helped having a few nursery friends around to give her some confidence.

One evening there was a bit of emotion.  My interpretation of this is that she has realised school is every day, so less time with Mummy, Daddy and Minnie.  It does seem a lot for such a small child, but she is embracing it.

And now it is normal to walk to the orange gates twice a day, and she is excited about being there.  On the days she has breakfast club and after-school club she is even more excited, something to do with magnetic Lego apparently.

Having seen her interacting with her little friends, I am proud that she is a confident, bright, enthusiastic girl.  From what I can gather, the only reason she has been told off so far is that she was whispering to a friend when the teacher was talking.  Typical Penny, always keen to chat :) 

Cats!

We got cats!  Fry and Leela came to us from Battersea, they are very friendly and sweet.

Rory's Naming Day

A brilliant and wholly magical day celebrating your new cousin Rory.  So good to see all the family, and it was glorious fun hanging out in his garden.
