A Magical New Place ... The Rookery!

On the edge of Streatham Common there is a landscaped garden called the Rookery.

With a magnificent terrace, and a variety of small themes gardens and walkways, it was a glorious place to wander round as a family.

It reminded me a little of Ayscoughfee Gardens in Spalding, and it reminded Daddy of wandering round his Yaya and Papou's garden in its heyday.

We meandered round, enjoying the flowers and the intertwining pathways.

Football

You started football practice a few weeks ago.

We asked you if you wanted to sign up for football and you said yes.  Though, as we are not really a football household, I am not very convinced you knew what was going to be involved.

The first practice was bright and sunny, and you enjoying running around with your friends.  And Harris the football teacher seems to have a great balance between discipline and fun.

And the tiny shin pads are very cute ...

Schquirrel

Exciting times for Minnie ... she can hear sounds like 'sss', 'shh', 'thh' and 'fff' for the first time, and is now trying to get her head round how to reproduce them.

This is such a transition for all of us, so we have tried to capture it a few times.

Squirrel is a hard word ...

Canal Boating with Gramps and Marion

We took our annual trip to see Gramps and Marion on their canal boat, which this year took us all the way up to Stone in Staffordshire.

It is always both serene and invigorating to experience the canal boat lifestyle, if only for a day.  And the sunshine helped a lot.

You even helped Daddy open the lock gates with Marion, what a helpful girl!
