Halloween 2016!

Brixton Windmill Harvest Festival

Recently we went to the harvest festival at the Brixton Windmill.  It is a joy to have such a terrific monument nearby, and it was a lovely day.  We even ran into a few of our neighbours, as well as dancing to folk music and galavanting around in the straw.

New Sofa!

We got a new sofa!  I am a bit in love with it.

We said goodbye to our old, grotty blue sofa that we bought second hand in Birmingham in 2005.  About time too!  Though it has served us well ... kind of like saying goodbye to an old friend.

Gramps' 70th

We went to Reigate last month to celebrate Gramps' 70th birthday, so lovely to see everybody!

Sydenham Hill Woods

Every year we have a tradition of picking up lots of conkers, acorns, leaves, sticks, sycamore helicopters and lots of other seasonal treats for our Autumn bowl.  It sits in the house to serve as a reminder of the season, the crisp clear days and the fading light of the sun.

We enjoy taking you girls out into the freedom of nature to explore and find treasure.

Min's first day at (pre) school

It's only preschool, but my gosh a uniform certainly makes it feel like a big milestone.

Only half days at first, but despite a cold and being a bit anaemic, Min did very well.

I sobbed all the way home, thinking back to those first days where we were told she might not make it.  Fortunately I ran into some friends who were a great comfort.

We are so proud of her, and excited that she is starting her school journey.

In 70 years time ...

Today (Sun 11th Sept) we celebrated your Gramps' 70th birthday, seeing the family at Pizza Express in Reigate.  It was a lovely, sunny day.

While we ate our fish and chips at dinner, Daddy explained to you that 70 years ago there were no colour tvs and that there was no Internet, and no mobile phones.  He asked you what you thought might be new in 70 years time.

"Radish pumps and polka dot ambulances," you said, without any doubt.

I love your imagination!

Zingers

You came up with a couple of zingers this evening.

"I wish people didn't have to work and they got their money from somewhere else because I miss you when you're at work."

"I love Mummy the best but I love you a lot too. Kidding! I love you both."

Then you wouldn't go to sleep so we lay in the back garden and made up names for the constellations.

Pen First School Sports Day

You enjoyed your first school sports day a lot, getting really involved in all the events.

I gave the Mum's race my best shot, but was very much in the middle of the pack ...

... unlike the nursery sports day 'balance a balloon on a plate' race which I won brilliantly ;)

You might have been in with a chance of winning your running race, but you very sweetly turned to wave at me as you ran past.

Hampton Court Flower Show

While Daddy and Minnie were in Greece, we decided you could join me on my annual jaunt to Hampton Court Flower Show.  It was great fun and you enjoyed it, though it exhausted both of us ... we agreed that maybe it would be a one off ;)

Kelly's Wedding

Daddy and Minnie went to Greece to see Cousin Kelly get married to Glen.  The Keats were there as well as Yaya and 'Metris, and everybody had a lovely time ... playing on the beach, seeing the family, and enjoying the sea.
